Mr. Bremer began his accounting career while attending college, working for a local CPA firm. After graduating, he joined the international firm of Pannell Kerr Forster. At PKF, he was responsible for a number of the firm's larger personal and corporate clients, including multistate, multientity publicly held companies.
In 1980, Mr. Bremer left Pannell Kerr Forster to establish a tax department for a local firm that was later to become Bremer & Hockenberg. His first duties included the acquisition and maintenance of a tax library, the implementation of internal controls for all tax matters, and the establishment of quality controls. He was later involved in the organization of a formal training program for all staff members, and was a frequent speaker at these programs. On January 1, 2010 Mr. Bremer founded G.M. Bremer & Associates.
Mr. Bremer represents both individuals and businesses, with a focus on estate and income tax planning matters. In addition, he has had considerable experience structuring business transactions, including sales, acquisitions, and both taxable and nontaxable mergers.
Mr. Bremer is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in the State of California. He received a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1977, and a Master's degree in taxation from Golden Gate University in 1987. He is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, a past member of its board of directors and a Past President of its 10,000-member Los Angeles Chapter. He is a Past Chair of the Los Angeles Chapter Taxation Committee and a member of the Chapter’s Estate Planning Committee. Mr. Bremer is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Bremer sits on the Board of Directors of several nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles. He has also taught tax courses at the graduate level as an adjunct instructor.
